STUDENT TASKS:

  1. Design an anti-drug poster in English for your school noticeboard.
  2. Write a pledge to stay away from drugs and then sign it in front of your friends.

CLASS DISCUSSION :

  1. Why do teenagers take drugs? Is it peer pressure or are they just curious? What do you think can be done to make the "anti-drug" message more of a success?
  2. In today's column, Gor says that his friends seemed to be having fun while they were taking drugs. He says he is puzzled why his teachers said drugs are "bad". In the next column you will find out that he made a mistake about this. But, if others teeangers are making the same mistakes, shouldn't teachers and other adults change their message? Maybe they should say something like: "Yes, drugs can be fun at the start, but they are highly addictive and you will soon have many days of feeling very bad." What do you think?
  3. The best way to get the "anti-drug" message across is to talk to an ex-drug addict. Invite someone in to talk to the class.
