"Thailand's most famous internet teenager" - bangkokmouth.com

Nattawud "Gor" Daoruang is a typical Thai teenager from Samut Prakan in Thailand. He comes from a working class family and lives in a small two-up, two-down terraced house. He likes playing football, chatting on the telephone and reading Japanese cartoon books. However, that is where the similarity with other Thai teenagers ends.

For the past six years, 18-year-old Nattawud has been chronicling every detail of his life on his web site thailandlife.com. Everything from things in his pocket to his secret diary has been written about and fully illustrated.

What has made this quite surprising is the amount of attention it has attracted. An average of 2500 visitors from more than 100 countries log on to his web site every day. The international media have called him "Thailand's youngest ambassador". Others claim that he has done more to promote Thailand as a tourist attraction than the government sponsored Tourist Authority of Thailand. Due to his willingness to be honest about the ups and downs in his life he has also been called "infamous" and "legendary".

In early 2002, at the age of 16, Nattawud started work as the youngest columnist at the Bangkok Post. Over the following months, he wrote about life around him as he saw it. Not shy to speak the truth, Nattawud delved into topics such as drug addiction, abortion and teenage parenting. Nattawud writes stories that fellow teenagers can identify with. Keen to point out that he is not trying to be a role model, Nattawud says he prefers people to learn from his mistakes. His message about drugs is clear: "Don't try drugs even one time, it is easy to become addicted but very difficult to quit." Nattawud should know, his "Drug Diaries" which details his journey into hell have been read in classrooms across America. Despite his popularity with teenagers for telling the truth about life, some teachers continue to ban his column from their classrooms in Thailand.
